Valentine Dinner Ideas Anyone Can Pull Off

  |     |   Food and Drink

Sure, it may be a bit sappy, but everyone enjoys getting anything heart-shaped on Valentine’s Day. Now that they are not making the classic candy hearts anymore, why not include one of these heart-shaped additions to your Valentine’s Day meal? With just a set of heart-shaped cookie cutters and a little imagination, you can create a dinner your special someone will remember!

Create a lovely salad.

Start with a bowl of washed mixed greens and then add a variety of vegetables and your favorite salad dressing. Use your smallest heart-shaped cookie cutter to punch out red pepper or seedless cucumber hearts. Try making homemade heart croutons by punching out heart shapes in a piece of bread and sauteing them in olive oil, salt, pepper, and garlic until crunchy.

Show a little love on the side.

Crispy, well-seasoned potatoes are the perfect side dish for just about any meal. Impress your sweetie with delicious heart-shaped potatoes. First, wash and peel your favorite roasting potatoes. Then cut each potato into 1 inch thick slices. Use a cookie cutter to make potato hearts. Parboil and dry completely. Toss with olive oil, salt, pepper, a little sugar, and paprika and cook in a 425-degree oven until golden brown.

Don’t forget the chocolate.

Satisfy your date’s chocolate cravings with a heart-shaped triple chocolate ice cream sundae. Bake or buy large chocolate brownies and cut out two hearts. Place one on wax paper and spread with chocolate ice cream. Cover with the brownie heart. Wrap in wax paper and freeze. Serve with hot fudge sauce and two forks.
